January 2013 Bandbox Cycling Celebrity of the Month Contest
Downton Abbey Butler, Mr. Carson aka Jim Carter

When Mr. Carson takes a break from his butlering duties at Downton Abbey, the bicycle is his favorite mode of transportaion.  In real life, Jim Carter has been a keen cyclist for 55 years (as of October 2011), frequently riding for charity causes. On 30 September 2011 Carter travelled with 25 other riders to Ghana for a 10-day trip which included six days of cycling to raise money for clean water in the small impoverished town of Tafo. He has a web page for this event to receive sponsors and donations: This was his tenth charity ride. The previous nine (Jordan, Costa Rica, Laos, Vietnam, India, Namibia, Chile, Argentina and London to Paris-twice) were to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society.[54] He intended to raise a minimum of ₤2,750 but ended up with ₤8,670.  (WIkipedia)

Dear Pink,

Please accept this Bandbox bicycle helmet from one of your more unlikely fans.  I’m a 55 year old engineer/mom/ex-hippie/classic.  Back in 2002, I was hypnotized along with the rest of the crowd when my daughter, Stefka Munley (9 years old at the time) did a Karaoke cover of “Get This Party Started” at a Sharpe James Newark, NJ fundraiser.   You would have laughed to see this 9 year old white girl getting over a 100 Newark natives to their feet dancing along with your music.   My admiration of your first rate lyrics and classic rock music was confirmed in 2008 with the National Public Radio interview of some high brow music reviewer who said your Funhouse Album was his favorite recently release album.

After listening to “So What” and “Please Don’t Leave Me.” I have to agree.
Bandbox Bicycle Helmets were designed to be a stylish and comfortable alternative to traditional bicycle helmet without sacrificing safety.  After reading your October interview in Parade Magazine, I decided to make you Bandbox’s first Cycling Celebrity of the month. Our website blog hosted a contest where they voted for the best helmet cover for you – the enclosed Philly, was the overwhelming winner.

Again, enjoy the helmet – love to get a photo.  Keep on rocking, Sincerely,  Cheryl Allen-Munley  Bandbox, llc.,  72 Bissell Road,  Lebanon, NJ  08833,  (908) 309-1172,
