Helmets Made to Order
Many of the covers we offer at our store are made directly to order and may require three to four weeks to complete, especially during peak season (April - June, Oct.-Dec.). For any customer that needs a helmet immediately for an upcoming birthday or bike trip, please ask for either expedited shipping or a recommendation for an in-stock item.
We want you to get a helmet cover that delights that you, so we will work with you to get things right. Want a custom color? Give us the Rit dye formula and we will do our best (given variations in straw foundation colors) to match your specified color. https://www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/ Please note, custom helmets are exchange only. Exchanges are charged the cost of reshipping.

Contact us for a return code before shipping by reaching out via email to cmunley@bandboxllc.com. We must receive the item within four weeks of the shipping date (additional time is allowed for international purchases). Only stock items are returnable and are subject to a $30 restocking fee. Store credit is only issued if items are returned without an RA code or outside the four-week window. Additional fees may be assessed for items received worn or unclean. Once you receive the code, ship the item to the following address:

What is underneath the hat (cover)?
Under each Bandbox helmet cover, we sell CPSC-approved YAKKAY Helmets (bicycle) and ASTM-approved IRH Helmets (equestrian).
What size should I order?
Use a tape measure to determine the circumference of your head one inch above your eyebrows. Select your size based on the measurement:
Equestrian Helmet:
- XS 19.5"-20.5" (49.5-52 cm)
- S/M 20.6"-21.7" (52-55cm)
- M/L 22"- 23.7" (55-60 cm)
- XL -23.8"-25" (55-63.5cm)
Bicycle Helmet:
- Medium 20-22" (51-56cm)
- Large 21.7-23.2" (55-59cm)
- XL 22.8-24" (58-61cm)
What prevents the helmet cover from flying off while riding? Will the wide-brimmed styles interfere with my vision in windy conditions? Will flowers and ribbons, and other trims be secure?
Our covers are secured either with either channel and drawstrings or elastic hatbands. Wide brim models are wired to prevent deflection in windy conditions. All trim is securely hand-sewn, and all cover designs have been field-tested, riding 35 mph down a 12% grade to assure satisfactory performance.
I have a Bandbox Helmet. Can I still buy covers to fit my Bandbox helmet?
While we no longer sell Bandbox helmets, we still offer covers that fit this design; select the Bandbox helmet option when specifying the size. Should you not get asked for the type of helmet you have, the cover will fit both YAKKAY and Bandbox helmets. ur covers are not designed to fit over other helmet configurations.
